Hitachi Sunway Secures Electronic Manufacturer Deal

Thailand-based group of Companies opts Hitachi Sunway to implement digital engineering solution to drive quality in power distribution and production of sub-station equipment

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, JUNE 25, 2014 – Hitachi Sunway Information Systems Sdn. Bhd (“Hitachi Sunway”), a leading IT services and solutions provider in Southeast Asia (SEA), today announces the securing of its first and largest Siemens Teamcenter® Product Lifecycle Management (‘Siemens Teamcenter® PLM’) software sale, in Thailand’s electrical manufacturing industry via its deal with Precise Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd (“Precise Electric”).

According to Cheah Kok Hoong, Group CEO / Director of Hitachi Sunway, the new deal signifies a milestone to the company’s establishment in the SEA region as a fast and upcoming trusted, one-stop partner for IT solutions and services for a diverse range of industry verticals.

“Through this deal, Hitachi Sunway is successfully making inroads into one of the largest manufacturing hubs in Asia, Thailand. We are ready to tap into this market share with our niche in offering specific IT solutions that range from engineering, IT infrastructure and application developments – in order to fulfill every single technology need by our customers’ business operations,” he says.

Today, the electrical and electronics industry contributes between 20 to 30 percent of Thailand’s annual export revenue that makes up approximately RM150 billion for all industries¹.

Cheah says, “Therefore, providing Siemens Teamcenter® PLM software, the world’s most widely used digital lifecycle management system for manufacturing and engineering, in Thailand is Hitachi Sunway’s natural first step to deliver our commitment to support engineering-based companies to achieve quality improvement and innovations.”

Prior to the joint-venture with Hitachi Systems, Ltd., Hitachi Sunway (Previously known as Sunway S&I Technology Sdn Bhd) has already established its business presence in Thailand since 2003. “With it, we have gained substantial understanding on the Thai market requirements and compliances which granted us a more strategic position in better serving these manufactures and engineering based companies.”

PLM Support for Precise Electric
Precise Electric selected Hitachi Sunway to implement Siemens Teamcenter® PLM software solution to support the group’s high voltage equipment productions’ design and manufacturing operations, as well to reduce its products’ time-to-market.

The deal is close to half a million Malaysian Ringgit, and it involves the implementation of the software solution in Precise Electric over 6 (six) months in optimizing manufacturing resources to achieve higher quality in production output and better design.

There are four (4) phrases were mapped out in plan to automate Precise Electric’s entire production design and engineering development processes of its core products. The first phase was completed in May 2014 to cover the basic product data management foundation with key focuses on design management, document automation, resource planning and bill of materials.
