PETALING JAYA, November 30, 2020 --- It is with deep regret that the Board of Directors of Hitachi Sunway Information Systems (“Hitachi Sunway”) announces Cheah Kok Hoong’s departure as Group CEO / Director, effective November 30, 2020 to pursue his dream as an entrepreneur. The Board has named Naofumi Ito, currently Chairman as Acting CEO to ensure business continuity.
We would like to express our appreciation to Cheah for his invaluable contribution to the company during his tenure of office while assuring that business will commence as usual.
Cheah is the first CEO of Hitachi Sunway since the company was established back in 2013. He played a critical role in the development and growth of the company. Over the years, Hitachi Sunway has established a strong local presence in ASEAN through a series of business acquisition and operations integration exercise, with a revenue growth of 1.8 times from FY2013 to FY2019. Cheah have also successfully embraced an integrated work culture which includes 5 ASEAN countries and Japanese cultures into ONE Hitachi Sunway. In addition, he plays an active role in the Malaysia ICT industry and academia.
We cannot thank Cheah enough for his dedication, passion and enthusiasm in leading Hitachi Sunway. We will greatly miss Cheah and we would like to wish him success in his new endeavour.
