Hitachi Systems, Hitachi Sunway Information Systems and e-Lock Announce Cooperation to Provide Web Security Solutions Using WebALARM in Japan and Southeast Asia

TOKYO-JAPAN, PETALING JAYA-MALAYSIA, JULY 17, 2013 – Hitachi Systems, Ltd. (hiereinafter Hitachi Systems), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501), its Group company Hitachi Sunway Information Systems Sdn. Bhd. (hiereinafter Hitachi Sunway Information Systems) and Malaysia-based e-Lock Corporation Sdn Bhd (hiereinafter eLock) today announced that they will cooperate in the field of Web security solutions. Security solutions using WebALARM will start to be provided by Hitachi Systems in Japan and provided by Hitachi Sunway Information Systems in Southeast Asia.

In recent years, cyber-attacks have become increasingly sophisticated and complex, along with the uptake and increasing importance of websites and web-based applications in society. These cyber-attacks include unauthorized altering of websites and information leaks caused by viruses. Website tampering can have a huge impact on a company’s brand and business, heightening the importance of security countermeasures.

e-Lock sells various security products, including a security package called WebALARM for preventing unauthorized website alteration. In addition, it offers security-related consulting, penetration testing and other services. The company successfully deployed many customers in Japan, Malaysia and other countries.

Hitachi Systems also provides security solutions to protect customers’ information assets. Hitachi Systems’ engineers, well-versed in security, handle everything from consulting for the introduction of security measures through to system integration and operation. Furthermore, the Security Operation Center (SOC) operates and provides security monitoring 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

Meanwhile, Hitachi Sunway Information Systems has its headquarters in Malaysia, as well as subsidiaries in Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

Against this backdrop, Hitachi Systems, Hitachi Sunway Information Systems and e-Lock have agreed to cooperate in the field of Web security solutions. e-Lock’s WebALARM security package for preventing website tampering features such functions as monitoring (surveillance), automatic recovery, alerts, integrity audits, and content update management, and is used by more than 1,800 licensees worldwide. Hitachi Systems and Hitachi Sunway Information Systems will now sell and install WebALARM in Japan and Southeast Asia, in combination with other Hitachi Systems’ security solutions including Web Security on-Demand Service, thereby providing Web security solutions matched to customers’ needs.

This cooperation will enable customers to take comprehensive security counter measures, reducing risks such as unauthorized website alteration and information leaks.

Hitachi Systems and Hitachi Sunway Information Systems, in conjunction with e-Lock, aim to expand sales of WebALARM and related solutions to the finance industry, educational institutions, public bodies and local governments in Japan and Southeast Asia. The companies are targeting cumulative sales of 700 million yen through the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016.
